CELEBRATES THE DIVERSITY, RESILIENCE AND CAPACITIES OF FAMILIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Within the extremely busy and hectic lives we lead, when was the last time you paused for a moment and thought about how important your family is to you. Or how family members are supporting you to achieve your goals?
National Families Week 2023 is a great time to do so, and some 300 hundred activities – involving 35,000 people across all parts of the country have already signed up to do just that!
Being connected to our family, friends and community is essential for all of us. Family networks can provide
loving and supportive environments that encourage us to take on the adventures (and risks) that life holds and chase our dreams.
Families reward us, they can make us laugh (can sometimes make us cry), keep us connected to culture, and are the foundations of who we are.
This year’s National Families Week theme – living real, dreaming BIG – encourages all of us to celebrate the importance of individual, family and community systems in supporting family wellbeing, safety and resilience.
Every family is uniquely different – all are vitally important – and no matter what form your family takes get involved in National Families Week and celebrate with us. There is a range of activity ideas, resources and information available on the National Families Week website: www.nfw.org.au
Whether it is telling a grandparent you love them, going on a family activity one night after school, creating the space to have a meal together or letting your annoying sibling know they’re not so annoying after all, take some time to reflect on the importance of your family, to you. Most importantly – let them know!
The strength, capacity and resilience of families continues to amaze. Our communities thrive when our families are healthy and strong. National Families Week is a time to celebrate with your family, contact extended family and friends, and share in the enjoyment of family activities in the wider community.
